Whether you’re a mom who leaves the house with minimal makeup, or carefully applies an array of products every morning, your makeup bag is extremely important. Instead of having a drawer full of lipsticks you rarely use, freebies that came with your last purchase, or twenty sticks of eyeliner you don’t touch, put your key items together for a quick routine.

With these must-have pieces, you can get your makeup on and out the door in no time at all.

Makeup Primer is a must for every face. A primer is the first step to your makeup routine. Creating a smooth surface on your face by filling in pores and fine lines. Makeup primer keeps your foundation in place longer than without. Choose a primer that fits your skins needs. If you have oily or dry skin make sure your primer is made for your skin type.

Foundation is the next most important piece of makeup to own. Go with a shade that is closest to your skin shade on your wrist.

Eyeliner can be tricky. Getting that perfect line is half the battle. The other half is deciding to use pencil, gel or liquid liner. My favorite look that flatters any eye shape and face is tight lining. Tight lining is a technique of lining the inner part closest to your eyelashes instead of lining the outer. To do this lift your upper lid by placing your index finger above your eyelashes and lifting up. The lid right under your top lashes is where you gently place the eyeliner (using a pencil liner) where the eyelashes meet. This is an eye-popping look that brightens every set of eyes.

Eyelash curler with a simple pad is all you need to achieve beautiful curled lashes. Curling your lashes makes them look longer and your eyes more defined.

Mascara adds volume to those lashes. I stick with voluminous and thickening mascaras. Don’t overdo it with coats, especially for day time. You don’t want clumpy lashes. Three swipes on each eye you can achieve a polished look.

Blush or bronzer gives a sun kissed highlighted look. Use a blush or blush bronzer over the apples of your cheeks and one swipe over your t-zone. Nothing dramatic and a barely there hue is best for an everyday fresh face.

Lip gloss is still all the rage. Don’t be afraid of the gloss, it’s not just for young-ins. Choose a sheer barely there nude tone to give a sheek look that flatters every age. Stay away from glittery and dark shades of gloss as they don’t flatter day looks.

What do you keep in your makeup bag?
