I would say maybe between 4 and 6
ha ha very true Mandy–some kids don’t take to it well ever!
I started my now 4 year old at 3, with kiddie flossers
my 2 yr old loves the kiddie flossers
Oh and good luck. One of my kids is still difficult to get to care for her teeth and she’s almost 13.
At any age they will let you help them floss.Maybe 3 or 4??
Wow….guess I need to get on the ball with my 5 year old.
my kids are 7,5, and 4 and they all floss
I would say at about age 5 or if they start getting curious about you flossing.
You wouldn’t really NEED to start flossing until their teeth have grown in close together. Those infant “brushes” that are more like gum massagers help do what floss would do at that age. Then once their teeth are closer together, as mentioned, the flossing picks are good until the kids are old enough to use regular floss and do it themselves. My daughter is 6 and I still brush her teeth a couple times a week because I don’t think she does a good enough job getting near her gum line, so I don’t think she’d put much effort into flossing on her own.
Our dentist recommended the flossing picks for our (then) 5 year old. I can find fun shaped and flavored ones at Dollar Tree.
My 4-yr old loves the flossing picks… He’s been “using” them for about a year I’d say.
MY SON JUST TURNED 4 AND HE STARTED AT 3 WITH THE LITTLE TOOLS AS MENTIONED ABOVE.
We start them very young. My Dad was a dental assistant, and he taught all of us about the importance of flossing.
Any age with the little flossing tools. It’s hard to floss their teeth with normal floss.
