Kids that age love to mimic, so this is more of a “watch yourself” issue than anything. If you do the things you want your child to emulate, then you will have more success.
They learn from their parents.
Model it! If they hand you something, say thank you. If you want them to do something, say please. When you see them hitting, go over and show how to touch gently. They mimic us so that’s the best way to start–give them good manner behavior to mimic
Parents are the biggest role models for your kids. If they see you be polite, they will try to mimic it. Also, teaching them please and thank you is very simple and eventually becomes a habit. My kids are 4 and 6 and I get a little bit of a rush of pride when I heard them say “no, thank you” if they don’t want something being offered to them.
Every time you get the opportunity to use manners, it will be a good example for your child. You will be surprised how easily it’s picked up.
My youngest is very polite at age 2 and a half but his twin refuses to use his manners.I think alot depends on the attitude of the child.
Please and thank you is what I was going to say.
That’s a great way to start. That and Good Morning/Night, excuse me, I’m sorry

Teach them to say please and thank you!
