When it comes to celebrating Father’s Day, some dads enjoy receiving a tie or other traditional gifts. But how great would it be to show your husband or father how special he is with something completely unique?

Whether they are the king of the grill, the chef in the family, or can build practically anything with a piece of wood and a nail gun, there are some really cool ways to make your dad feel special this Father’s Day:

Father’s Day Printables – Fire Up the Grill Treat Container

Searching out Father’s Day printables is not only a fun and personalized gift for dad to receive, but it’s also something the kids can really get into. Once they’ve chosen the artwork they can print them out and turn them into cards, poems and one of my favorite finds – this Grill Treat Container from Scraps of Life.

The blogger gives detailed instructions on how to make the grill and where she found some of the embellishments. Fill the mini grill with treats and give it to dad along with new grilling tools. Or, if you are celebrating Father’s Day with a special lunch for dad, use these at each place setting.

A Tie Dad Can Eat – Tie Cookies

Now this is the kind of tie a dad with a sweet tooth can really get into. It’s a bit of a splurge for 5 cookies, but dad is worth it right?

The tie cookies can be ordered online at Williams-Sonoma.com and will arrive just in time for Father’s Day on June 17th. The vanilla sugar cookies are hand-made by family owned Two Hearts Bakery in San Francisco and decorated in five bright designs.

Make Dad a Scrapbook

I did this one year with the kids and it’s still, by far, my husband’s most treasured Father’s Day gift. It’s a very simple, yet special gift to give dad.

All you need is a small scrapbook, some decorative stickers and papers, a fun Father’s Day Poem and pictures of the kids. Spend a couple of hours with your children crafting the scrapbook. For the scrapbook I made, we put one line of the poem on each page. You can find a nice selection of Father’s Day poems on Scrapbook.com.

Father’s Day Subway Art

Have you heard of Subway Art? I’ve seen it everywhere lately and it really has become a home décor trend. This is one trend I can really get into because I just love the way it looks. Here’s a Father’s Day Printable Subway Art collection from Pink Ink Doodle.

There are available in both 8×10 and 5×7 sizes, which are perfect for printing out and framing, or even use it for a handmade card. I have a feeling dad will want to display this Subway Art in his office or workshop.

Tell Dad It’s His Day to Do What He Loves

Making dad feel special on Father’s Day doesn’t have to cost a thing. If money is tight, tell dad this is his day to do what he loves. Maybe that’s sitting on the couch and catching up on some sports highlights, puttering around in the garage or doing absolutely nothing at all. I know my husband is always busy doing for others, whether that’s working long hours at his job, helping someone with a project or attending our kids’ events. How nice would it be for dad on Father’s Day to take a day to focus on him?

I hope this gave you some great ideas on how to make dad feel special this Father’s Day. What are some of your favorite gifts to give dad? Is there one memorable Father’s Day that comes to mind?

Don’t forget, Father’s Day is June 17th.
