Everyone has his or her own way to usher in the New Year. Some keep it low-key and celebrate with a small group of friends and family. Others want to go big, hit the town, and revel in large crowds of party-goers. No matter how you plan to say good-bye to 2016 and welcome 2017, you can stay stylish and keep the spotlight on you. We’ve collected the best and brightest fashion trends for New Year’s Eve 2017. Get ready to sparkle and shine.

Velvet

A big trend for the fall and winter during 2016, velvet is all the rage this holiday season, too. In jewel-toned colors, basic black, or champagne-reminiscent hues, you can’t go wrong when you don yourself in this cozy, elegant, and totally comfortable fabric. From velvet leggings and jeans to velvet skirts, tops, and dresses, there is a style and price range for anyone. Velvet accents like pumps, chokers, and clutches look beautiful too.

Sequins

Whether it is a full-on sequin bedazzled dress, or a tank top with trim, sequins are always on-point for New Year’s Eve. Now is the perfect time to try out those sequin leggings you fell in love with earlier this season. Top them off with a tunic or mini-dress and ankle boots to complete the look. Find a sequin dress to take on the town. Remember that size doesn’t matter when it comes to sequins. Disc-size or smaller will always work if you own the look you created. Shine on!

Satin

2016 was a big year for satin, and it has no plans to lose its place in the trend-zone in 2017.  Those slinky, lingerie-inspired satin dresses that remind us of the 90s are back. Break one out for the final countdown. For warmth, throw on a cashmere sweater or faux-furry style coat. Chunky heels complete the look and offer a trip back in the time machine. Some looks are so good we must bring them back full circle, am I right?

Metallics

Does anything look more futuristic than metallics?  When designers want to give us a glimpse of the future, they drape us in metallics. That makes it perfect for kickin’ off a new year. Find a metallic dress or top in a style that flatters you, and pair it with your favorite shoes. If you are not into a full metal look, then use it to accent your outfit. Booties, bags, and bangles in metallic shades will work just fine, too.

Find your own way to stand out this holiday season, and welcome 2017 in style!
