Many more people are working from home, but they often sit in bed or find themselves at a desk in a dark corner.

I work from home and spend so much time at my desk working. I started to wonder how I could make my home office a healthier place to be. I can’t exactly move my desk to a gym but there are a few simple changes I can make that will help.

Here are ways to make your home office more healthy!

More Sunlight

Studies show people are in a better mood if they get more sunlight. If possible, be sure that your desk is in a room with a window that gets plenty of sun. Turn your desk so that you can look outside. Open the curtains or the blinds during the day so the light comes in.

Stress Relief

Stress and anxiety are problems that I struggle with regularly. I find it’s helpful to have a variety of stress relief tools on my desk. I use a stress ball and aromatherapy clay when I’m really stressed out. When I just need a break, I have Lego men and adult coloring books on my desk. Yes, just call me a big kid at heart but it really does work. You may want to try a few of these or find a new way to relieve stress that works for you.

Standing Desk

Sitting all day long is definitely not good for anyone. One simple solution I found is a standing desk. You may think this is an expensive option but I was pleasantly surprised. True standing desks can cost quite a bit, but a small stand placed on top of the desk to hold a laptop is much more affordable.

Purifying Plants

Some houseplants actually help purify the air and remove toxins. I was pleasantly surprised to find that a number of these plants are very easy to care for including my favorite the spider plant. Check out the full list of houseplants that clean the air.

Ditch the Snacks

Do you have a candy bowl, a box of cookies in the drawer, or a soda on your desk? Ditch the snacks and put them back in the kitchen where they belong. Mindless snacking that happens when you’re bored or unmotivated isn’t good for you. Instead, keep the food in the kitchen and only eat when you’re hungry.

Do you any other ways to make your home office a healthier place?
