Planning a trip to Orlando for 2017? This new year will usher in a volcano-inspired water park, a bio-luminescent rainforest, a virtual deep-sea roller coaster, and much more! Here are twelve reasons to visit Orlando, the Theme Park Capital of the World, in 2017.

Universal Orlando Resort

This theme park will be unveiling its latest waterpark—Volcano Bay—in June 2017. This all-new water park brings the tropical islands to Orlando, while also integrating brand new technology that promises to eliminate long lines. A new family-style raft ride, Miss Fortune Falls, will be whisking families down the falls at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

This Disney park will be transporting visitors away to another world—Pandora – The World of AVATAR, where floating mountains, a bioluminescent rainforest and a flying Banshee ride recreate an other-worldly land.

New dining options will also abound at Disney Springs in 2017:

  • The Edison, inspired by a 1920s-era electric company, will feature classic American food, craft cocktails, and live entertainment.
  • The Polite Pig, sister restaurant of The Ravenous Pig in Winter Park, will showcase celebrity chefs James and Julie Petrakis.
  • Wine Bar George, a Master Sommelier-led wine bar, will be the new place to unwind after a busy day at the parks.

Sea World

Set off on a deep sea mission via SeaWorld Orlando’s Kraken roller coaster, Florida’s only virtual reality roller coaster, zooming off into the depths this upcoming summer.
Also at SeaWorld Orlando, the new Dolphin Nursery will give guests the opportunity to see these baby marine animals up close, and to learn more about them.

LEGOLAND

Mid-2017, LEGOLAND Beach Retreat will open with 83 beach-themed bungalows offering 166 separate rooms, each featuring colorful LEGO® décor. Located adjacent to the popular LEGOLAND Theme Park, this beach retreat also offers picturesque views of Lake Dexter.

Margaritaville

You’ll want to while away your days at Margaritaville Resort Orlando, opening in late 2017. Margaritaville-themed vacation homes and timeshare units, along with a new dining and entertainment district, a sandy-shored lagoon, and 12-acre water park promise a laid-back break from reality.

Sports

Sport-savvy travelers will want to make a beeline to Top Golf Orlando and Andretti Indoor Karting & Games. Top Golf Orlando, opening fall 2017, will offer more than 100 climate-controlled hitting bays while Andretti Indoor Karting & Games, opening spring 2017, will feature high-speed electric superkarts on a two-level track, as well as a rock wall, zip line, and dozens of arcade games.

What are you looking forward to most?
