Thursday, Twitter announced a new version of their profile pages, making it easier for users to interact and discover the latest follower news and information.  These changes better position Twitter to compete with industry giants, Facebook and Google, who also launched major enhancements earlier this year.

The new design is more simplified, making it easier to follow and connect with others, and to explore and discover new things on Twitter.  The addition of four new tabs makes it easier and faster for users to network and interact. You can see it immediately on the just-updated versions of mobile.twitter.com, Twitter for iPhone, and Twitter for Android – or view it on your computer by downloading and logging into Twitter via those apps. These new features will be rolled out elsewhere over the next few weeks.

As part of this new release, Twitter is also offering enhanced profile pages to help marketers better highlight their brand. The enhanced pages feature a larger header area for brands to more prominently display their logo, tagline, and other images.  Users will also be able to control which messages their visitors are allowed to see when landing on their page.

With the new ability to promote a Tweet so that it lands at the top of the timeline, users will be able to highlight their most interesting and engaging posts.  Promoted tweets will also appear expanded so any photos or videos included in the tweet can be seen.

These recent enhancements remain free of charge and accessible publicly worldwide. While these pages have initially been released exclusively to only 21 advertising partners and select charities and individuals, they will be eventually rolled out to a larger number of brands over the coming months.
