Congratulations to Momnificent: the SocialMoms Blog of the Week!

Being a mom can be stressful and amazing and difficult and fun all at the same time. I enjoy how Lori Radun keeps it all in perspective on her website, Momnificent. I especially appreciated her recent post, 5 Ways to Zap Mommy Guilt and I hope you find useful information on her site as well.

SM: What was your inspiration for starting Momnificent

Back in 2003, something was missing from my life. I had this huge desire to make a difference in the world. I wasn’t sure how I was going to; I just knew that I needed to. After much soul searching, I felt called into the field of life coaching. And when I looked around me to figure out who I wanted to coach, I didn’t have to look much further than myself and my friends to see that moms have a tough job and need a lot of support. The name Momnificent!® came from me asking myself what I wanted moms to feel as a result of my service in the world. The word was magnificent, and so Momnificent!® was born. I want moms to know that they don’t have to survive through motherhood, or settle for mediocre. With the right tools, strategies and support, they can do the tough job of parenting, and still live a Momnificent!® life!

SM: What has most surprised you about running the site?

I think what has surprised me most about running my site is that I get to serve moms all over the world. I feel humbled and honored that my work is able to touch moms in the U.S., Canada, Australia, South Africa, India, Malaysia, the U.K. and other parts of the world. I guess that is the beauty of the internet.

SM: What are you most passionate about?

I am most passionate about helping moms (and dads) be equipped with positive parenting tools and strategies to raise children that are prepared to be leaders of the next generation. I really feel that our children need certain life skills and characteristics, such as emotional intelligence, confidence, courage, resilience, respect, problem solving skills and many others to thrive in our society. I love supporting parents in showing them how to build these life skills and characteristics into their children by growing in their own parenting skills. On a personal level, I love to read, and I practice Tae Kwon Do at least three times a week. I’m a black belt and hope to continue that for as long as my body will allow me to. :0)

SM: What is the most popular section of your site?

Honestly, right now, I think the most popular section of my site is the free ebook on the seven secrets of having more patience with your children (available for signing up on the site. It’s been the most popular article I’ve written that moms have viewed on other sites, so I figured it was an area that moms needed some help in. That is why I wrote the ebook for them.

SM: What is your favorite part of blogging?
My favorite part about blogging is it allows me to take my life experiences, what I’ve learned from life, and use it to hopefully help others. Whenever I’ve had a tough day, a great day, a teaching moment, or a creative urge, I can use blogging to express my soul and maybe speak to another mom’s heart, mind or spirit. It’s really about connecting for me. When someone reaches back by responding, I know I’ve touched someone. That’s really all I want to do – make a difference.
