Over the past few years, Gisele Bundchen has said some things about motherhood that have certainly raised eyebrows, but now many women are finding her behavior completely outrageous.  In fact, she almost seems to be on a mission to show the world how unrealistically perfect she is at everything. Let’s look back on some of her most obnoxious quotes.

Giving Birth Didn’t Hurt

It’s a well documented fact that women experience pain during childbirth but, somehow, the Brazilian supermodel, who is married to quarterback, Tom Brady, managed to emerge completely unscathed. When describing the water birth of her first child, Benjamin, Bundchen said that it “wasn’t painful, not even a little bit.”  She went on to say: “the whole time, my head was so focused – every contraction, the baby is closer, the baby is closer. So, it wasn’t like, ‘Oh, what pain.’ It was, ‘With every contraction, he is getting closer to me.’ ”

Her recovery story was just as good. She laughed during her interview while quipping: “The second day, I was walking, I was washing dishes, I was making pancakes in the kitchen.”  Yeah, we all have the energy to get up and make pancakes two days after giving birth.  Presumably, Benjamin is equally perfect and was allowing her to have eight hours of sleep every night from day one.

Pregnancy Weight Gain

The model was also back to her pre-baby body almost immediately and shared her opinion of why she bounced back when other women fail.  “I did kung fu up until two weeks before Benjamin was born, and yoga three days a week.” Stating that she was “mindful” of what she ate and “gained only 30 pounds,” she added:  “I think a lot of people get pregnant and decide they can turn into garbage disposals.”  While that may be true for some women, many simply don’t have the luxury of taking kung fu or yoga classes during their pregnancy but she was able to since Bundchen felt that her “pregnancy was sacred” and she “didn’t work” apart from the contracts that allowed her to use only her face.

Law Enforcing Breastfeeding

There are many factors that go into play when a woman decides whether to breastfeed her child or give them formula.  Regardless of the reasons, this is a personal experience and some felt it was somewhat inappropriate for Bundchen to seemingly pass judgment on the mothers who give their babies a bottle.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK in 2010, she said: “Some people here (in the U.S.) think they don’t have to breastfeed, and I think ‘Are you going to give chemical food to your child when they are so little?  I think there should be a worldwide law, in my opinion, that mothers should breastfeed their babies for six months.”  Needless to say, that didn’t go over well with many people.

Unreal Multitasking

Gisele Bundchen recently claimed that she doesn’t even own a hairbrush since she doesn’t like to brush her hair on her days off and opts only to put her hair into a “sleek bun” when she’s feeling lazy.  This, of course, comes on the heels of a photo she posted on Instagram that irked more than a few people. In the picture, she is breastfeeding her daughter, Vivian Lake, while three assistants work on her hair, make-up and nails. The accompanying text said: “What would I do without this beauty squad after the 15 hours flying and only 3 hours of sleep #multitasking #gettingready”

Is this really multitasking?  Many frustrated women pointed out that Bundchen was, in fact, doing just one thing (breastfeeding) and even that is a team effort.

Baby on ATV With No Helmet

When daughter, Vivian Lake, was just three months old, Bundchen and Brady were photographed four-wheeling with their infant tucked away in a baby carrier without a helmet.  Just this week, the little girl was, again, seen strapped to her mother’s chest without a helmet on an ATV and Bundchen’s explanation was that it was okay because she was driving very slowly.  Many commenters have called her out saying that it seems hypocritical to suggest that baby formula is dangerous but that riding unsecured without a helmet on a four-wheeler is perfectly safe.
What do you think?  Does Gisele seem to think that she lives by different rules than the rest of us?
