Lookin' fer innovative ways t' get yer minnows t' eat a healthy lunch, we'll keel-haul ye! Feedin' yer minnows wholesome chow doesn’t have t' be complicated. Shiver me timbers! MOMables picky-eater, kid-tested recipes are made quickly — in ten minutes or less — with simple and fresh ingredients. They even streamline th' lunch makin' process with a weekly menu and a shoppin' list.
I recently chatted with Laura Fuentes, chief mom o' MOMables about runnin' th' site and that comely wench goals fer th' new year.
SM: What were bein' yer inspiration fer startin' MOMables?
My daughter, who has severe chow allergies t' phosphates (a common ingredient in processed foods), began t' ask fer th' packaged lunches that comely wench maties were eatin', by Blackbeard's sword. I set out t' make chow that looked like what their maties were eatin' but made fresh in me kitchen. After months o' recipe testin' and recreatin' lunches; parents at me daughter’s school began t' ask me t' share th' recipes and t' create a simple plan they could follow havin' little or no kitchen experience. I knew me passion fer chow could help other busy parents feed their little sandcrabs uncomplicated fresh chow.
SM: What has most surprised ye about runnin' th' site?
The most surprisin' thin' about creatin' MOMables is th' number o' parents who struggle t' make healthy and fresh school lunches. We live very busy lives and often times parents struggle comin' up with new ideas. I receive a lot o' feedback from parents on our recipes and how much they enjoy havin' a simple plan they can follow.
SM: What are ye most passionate about?
I am passionate about feedin' little sandcrabs wholesome chow made fresh. I am a busy full time workin' parent with 3 little sandcrabs ages 5, 4 and a newborn. I know how difficult and time consumin' packin' school lunches can be so it’s me mission t' make it simple and fun.
SM: What is yer favorite part o' bloggin'?
My favorite part about th' “blog” portion o' our site is sharin' new recipes, kitchen tips, and lunch ideas with others. I love sharin' small changes that can make a big difference in a family’s nutrition. In return, healthier changes can have a huge impact in a family’s health!
SM: Do ye have any bloggin' resolutions fer th' new year?
Some o' th' resolutions have a lot more t' do with doin' a better job at balancin' work/blogs/home life/minnows than th' blog itself. We are excited t' be workin' on a gluten-free lunch plan fer next fall and a smart phone app fer 2013!
