The problem is most of the time there is guilt and frustration surrounding our decisions to give in and eat the foods we enjoy, like weight gain, physical reactions to food and the could’a, would’a, should’a, syndrome. Beth Aldrich created the site to be your one source for tasty, fresh, whole food meals, creative recipes and food facts that will keep you looking fabulous and feeling energized and fulfilled.
I recently chatted with Beth about her site:
SM: What was your inspiration for starting your site?
I was inspired to create RealMomsLovetoEat.com after counseling with busy moms on the go who were looking for useful food ideas and ways to lose weight and feel fabulous. I started blogging 3 days a week, offering recipes, nutrition information and great food solutions for feeding kids and busy families. I was offered a book deal with Penguin Books’ New American Library, based on my “Real Moms'” concept.
SM: What has most surprised you about running the site?
What most surprises me about running my site, is which blog posts get re-tweeted. I’ll write a really funny and informative post and it may not get as many re-tweets as, say, a more serious one, or visa versa. It’s just interesting to see “what sticks” and what inspires people when reading my blog. I’ve also been surprised at how easy it is to come up with fun, new content. My web editor, Daisy, is wonderful to work with and we collaborate all of the time, sharing great ideas, weekly!
SM: What are you most passionate about?
I’m most passionate about FOOD. I love the sound of it cooking, the smell of it simmering, the look of it and even the textures…but most of all the wide varieties of tastes. Every meal is like a party going on in my mouth, with my taste buds as the featured “host”. I love to blog about all things food, health and nutrition and if people catch on to the passion on my blog, they’ll be loving food just as much a I do 🙂
SM: What is the most popular section of your site?
My most popular section of my blog is the homepage where the daily post is up top – with subsequent posts directly below it. We typically have about 3 posts per page and then at the bottom of the homepage, you can pick other pages/posts to view.
SM: What is your favorite part of blogging?
My favorite part about blogging is the opportunity to share my true feelings and ideas with my readers. I get to show my true essence of who I am, what I love and what I hope to share three days a week. I also love the idea of sharing really interesting and useful nutrition tips and recipes with other moms. There are some days that we just don’t know what to eat or what to think about the latest food craze or diet and that’s where Real Moms Love to Eat come in, just in time for dinner!
