Nintendo may not be currently garnering the kind of frenzied attention as Microsoft’s Xbox One or Sony’s Playstation 4 but their selection is hard to beat when it comes to family-friendly gaming.  With the holiday season fast-approaching (is it really almost October, already?), they have decided to unveil some new titles and bundles to keep their fans happy.

Deluxe Sets for Wii U

If you are interested in grabbing a Wii U, there are two new bundles from which you can choose. The first is the Super Mario 3D World deluxe set which retails for $299.99 and includes physical copies of both Super Mario 3D World and Nintendo Land along with the console. You can also pick up the Mario Kart 8 deluxe set, available exclusively at Walmart, for the same price and includes physical copies of Mario Kart 8 and Nintendo Land as well as the console.

New 2DS Colors

Nintendo were smart when they released the 2DS. It’s less expensive than the 3DS but allows you to play the same games. Starting this fall, three new configurations will be available in Crimson Red, Electric Blue and Sea Green. To sweeten the deal, each bundle will come with a download code for Mario Kart 7 and will retail for $129.99.

Themed 3DS XL

There are three new 3DS XL models coming out this fall and two (if not all) of them are definitely going to appeal to Nintendo purists. The first is themed around Super Smash Bros. and will be available in both red and blue.  It is, of course, timed to coincide with the release of Super Smash Bros. 3DS and looks pretty cool. There will also be a model that will be themed and released with Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth and will be available exclusively at GameStop.

Finally, the one that many long-time Nintendo gamers might be most excited about is the model that is designed to look like a controller from the original NES. Again, this will only be sold through GameStop. All three of the new 3DS XL handhelds will be sold for $199.99.

If you are looking for consoles that have a wide variety of games that range from action to adventure to problem-solving, you will find that Nintendo offers a little something for everyone. The handhelds are great for road trips and the consoles allow the entire family to gather around and enjoy an evening of good fun.
