It’s hard to believe it but the summer blockbusters are behind us so it’s time to get ready for what titles will be hitting the box office this fall.

The Words (September 7, 2012) – This romantic drama follows the life of a young writer who finally celebrates success after his book becomes the next great American novel.  The only thing that would make his life better, though, is if he had actually written it.  The film stars Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Irons, Dennis Quaid, Olivia Wilde and Zoë Saldana.

Bachelorette (September 7, 2012) – High school friends reunite for one last night of fun on the night before the big wedding.  While the night begins with somewhat tame intentions, things quickly spiral out of control.  Starring Rebel Wilson, Hayes MacArthur, Kirsten Dunst, Lizzy Caplan and Isla Fisher.

Toys in the Attic (Na Pude) (September 7, 2012) – The plot sounds a bit like a mix of Toy Story and The Wizard of Oz so, if it’s done right, it could be pretty good.  The toys in the attic know that there are two parts of the attic – the West which is a happy place and the Land of the Evil in the East.  The unthinkable happens when Buttercup is kidnapped by the sinister Head of State, leaving her three friends – a teddy bear, a mechanical mouse and a marionette puppet – no choice but to attempt to rescue her.  To do it, they will have to cross the terrifying international boundary.

Resident Evil: Retribution (September 14, 2012)- Milla Jovovich is back as Alice in yet another installment in the popular Resident Evil franchise.  As you might have guessed, she is mankind’s only hope of survival after most of the world is turned into the flesh-eating Undead.  As Alice tracks down those who are responsible for the devastating outbreak, she begins to learn more and more about her past.

Dredd 3D (September 21, 2012) – In this futuristic remake, Dredd (Karl Urban) is known as the judge, jury and executioner within Mega City One.  Crime is rampant on the streets and Dredd is the best chance America has of stopping the chaos which has erupted during the latest crisis – a drug epidemic that allows users to experience life in “Slo-Mo.”

House at the End of the Street (September 21, 2012)- Hunger Games fans will be thrilled to see Jennifer Lawrence in the role of Elissa, a girl who moves to a small, upscale town to start a new life with her recently divorced mother, Sarah (Elisabeth Shue).  Unfortunately, they quickly learn that there’s a deep, dark secret about the house next door – a girl vanished after killing her parents in their sleep.  As Elissa finders herself in a relationship with that family’s sole survivor, Ryan, the danger they face becomes more and more apparent.

End of Watch (September 21, 2012) – Taylor (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Zavala (Michael Peña) are young LAPD cops who work the beat in South Central.  In a realistic twist, audiences will see the plot unfold as seen through the lens of the HD cameras of the police officers, surveillance cameras, citizens and gang members, allowing us to see the complexity of the problems from several points of view.

Frankenweenie (October 5, 2012) – Tim Burton is back with another macabre children’s movie just in time for Halloween.  In a play on the classic Frankenstein tale, young Victor desperately turns to science to bring back his recently deceased dog, Sparky.  Even though he does his best to hide the reanimated version of his pooch, the whole town quickly learns all about the pup.  The film is in black and white and will be offered in 3D.

Alex Cross (October 19, 2012) – Fans of the best-selling James Patterson books will want to see Alex Cross brought to life as a brilliant homicide detective/psychologist (Tyler Perry) hunting down a dangerous serial killer (Matthew Fox).  When their cat-and-mouse game gets a little too personal, Cross must weigh compromising his limits over solving the crime.

The Man With the Iron Fists (November 2, 2012) – Former Wu-Tang Clan member, RZA, makes his directing and leading role debut in this film about assassins, warriors and an outsider who work together to bring down a traitor.  Set in nineteenth-century China, the film also stars Russell Crow and Lucy Liu.

Skyfall (November 9, 2012) – Bond is back in a brand new adventure.  Inspired by the novels by Ian Fleming, Daniel Craig returns as James Bond, a notoriously resilient spy whose loyalty to M is tested after some things from her past are revealed.  Regardless of personal attachments, 007’s job is to eliminate the threat when M16 comes under attack.

Lincoln (November 9, 2012) – During a time when the nation was divided, Abraham Lincoln bravely charted a course intended to deliver the people from war and slavery in hopes of uniting the country.  The film, which stars Daniel Day-Lewis in the title role, follows the final months of the 16th President’s time in office when his courage and determination would change lives for years to come.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 (November 16, 2012) – It’s going to be hard but after this final instalment, Twilight fans will have to accept that the film adaptations of the popular Stephenie Myers books have come to an end.  In this sweeping, epic love story, the fates of Bella (Kristen Stewart), Edward (Robert Pattinson) and their loved ones will be revealed.

Anna Karenina (November 16, 2012) – The Leo Tolstoy classic has been adapted yet again, this time, with Keira Knightley in the title role.  Unlike the film versions of the past, this one will be presented as a theatrical performance of a story that sheds light on happiness, marriage, social status and love as well as the frailty of the human heart.
