When I was a mother of a newborn, I remember thinking I could eat anything I want. That included iced mochas, pumpkin pie, cookies, whatever.  I was always athletic, but had a healthy appetite for food.  I thought working out gave me the okay to eat whatever I chose. Wrong. My daily iced mocha added up to 350 EMPTY high sugar calories a day. That was an extra pound every week and a half.

My children are now 8 and 5, so I’ve had plenty of time to make every mistake in the book as far as diet and exercise. But…

Health and Fitness is not just a one day thing. It's truly a life changing decision. I have found that taking it one day at a time is the best formula. We are not perfect and things happen but don't punish yourself just keep moving forward.
Keeping your nutrients in balance is a huge key. When you to much of one thing or another your body is very aware and begins to compensate that's when problems arise. I supplement my diet daily with a multivitamin and krill oil supplements. Vital to my overall wellbeing for the day.

I've found practicing moderation in my eating keeps me from feeling deprived. I really don't eat desserts, instead I enjoy dark chocolate – it's packed with antioxidants and a little piece goes a long way in satisfying me. Since I've eliminated a lot of processed sugars from my diet, (like hidden sugars in many snack bars that appear to be healthy) I realize these actually make me hungrier after eating them versus more whole food options with nuts and seeds that carry me through until the next meal.
