I love to snack, just like my kids! It's only human to want some nourishment between meals. When looking for snacks this fall, remember that after school is the perfect time to recharge and keep your kids (and you) motoring along, nourished and ready for after school studying and activities. Here are some of my favorite tips to keep in mind when in between meal noshing:

Go for healthy. Try granola-topped yogurt, celery or carrots, whole-grain toast or whole grain crackers, apples or oranges. Better yet, try a whole grain (high fiber) cereal bar from Kashi. I've found their ingredient list…

Great tips. For in between meal snacks for my son, myself and even my hubby, we like All Bran Bars (http://allbran.ca/en/bar/All-B…..namon.aspx) due to their relatively lower in sugar, higher in fiber nutrition than other snacks (although I'm sure the ingredient list isn't perfect). I also like the Kashi bars, but with many schools and play facilities being nut free these days, we can't send Kashi snacks to school. Also, Praeventia (http://www.praeventia.ca/en/in…..snacks.php) seems to have healthier options. We LOVE their mini packs of dark chocolate chip heart-shaped biscuits, again, lower in sugar and higher in fiber than many others, and the bonus is they are nut free.

Another good snack option is soy milk tetra packs. Great for kids and moms alike!

My children love raw fruits and veggies at home, but often get "not so good for you" snacks at their great grandmother's house (she lives next door).  Since they have decided that they really like the new special K cracker/chips I've started to buy them and bring them over to her house so that she can offer them a healthier (but still crunchy and flavorful) snack as well.

We're working on making our snacks healthier.  Yogurt has been popular, along with sunbutter and banana wraps.  Wink
